yoga therapy for anxiety

More and more people are experiencing anxiety regularly, and yoga has been shown to be an effective tool for finding relief from this often overwhelming experience. The way that anxiety can present itself can differ significantly for each of us - we can experience a racing mind that creates tension in the body, and also the way that we move our body can influence what is happening in the mind. A yoga practice can provide simple, grounded, explorative ways of moving the body, working with the breath, and making sound that can help to centre the mind.

about the workshop

This online workshop is an invitation into the possibility of unwinding, soothing and relaxing stress and tension in the body which may be leading to anxiety. It is an opportunity to lean into the felt sense of being more resourced and supported to regulate your nervous system on and off your mat.

There will be gentle movement, breath, yin yoga, pranayama and relaxation exercises. Within this experience of being on the yoga mat moving, breathing, making sound, resting and playing, there is the possibility for spontaneous moments of space and relief from old ways of being, seeing and feeling about ourselves, and our mental and emotional states.

Your teacher

Hi, I'm Bernie. I am a yoga teacher, yoga therapist and ayurvedic health coach. From my many years of teaching hatha, flow and yin yoga, my approach is one of accessibility and exploration, creating a space for somatic inquiry where you can reconnect to the intelligence of your own body. I teach group classes at Emerald Beach and Coffs Harbour, and my yoga therapy work is centred around a trauma sensitive approach, creating a kinder relationship with ourselves.

When I am not teaching I am either at the beach, hiking or trying out some new ayurvedic recipe.

Live 2 hour small group zoom class Sunday October 20th, 4pm - 6pm (maximum 10 students)

  • Gentle yoga therapy practice exploring grounding exercises, moon salutations, yin yoga, pranayama and relaxation

  • A short 10 - 15 minute talk on the yogic view on anxiety

  • Recording will be yours to download and keep

  • Short pre class questionnaire to understand your experience, so that the workshop can be tailored to your needs

  • 20% discount on 1:1 yoga therapy 3 session package to continue your own home practice valued at $66 (full price $330)
